HIV TESTING: I THOUGHT IT WAS SOMETHING EVERYONE DID

We take a look at the second of three powerful videos recently produced from HIV Foundation Queensland – this time with a focus on HIV testing and living with HIV.

Allen, a young man, and former Olympian Ji Wallace share their personal journeys and experience of their HIV diagnosis and its impact, disclosing to family members and loved ones, the importance of HIV testing and knowing your status.

“With people in their 20’s, we’re not going to catch it. We’re invincible. It’s not part of our generation; it’s part of the 80’s,” says Allen.

The main message of this video is that no one is immune to HIV – the virus does not discriminate, and the best way to stay in control of your health is to test regularly and know your status.

Ji says: “If I was doing the right thing and getting tested regularly and getting tested before each new relationship, my situation wouldn’t happen”.
