Mobile apps such as Grindr, Hornet and Scruff have changed the way gay men meet and communicate in today’s society. Allowing gay guys from all over the world a chance to chat, meet and hook up, based on their location and profiles these apps have re-invented and redefined the social approach for many due to the fast and instant way of connecting. But for one app, it’s not just about providing a platform to meet and hook up.
Taking a health promotion approach, Hornet is allowing it’s users to locate HIV testing services and learn more about PrEP and other HIV-related topics in the U.S. The Hornet Gay Social Network has launched a new feature on their app in an effort to help prevent HIV infections and reduce stigma.
Representatives from Hornet say the new feature was used over 30,000 times on its first day.
