New PrEP study called EPIC NSW and the new NSW HIV Strategy 2016-2020 announced at this year's World AIDS Day.
World AIDS Day each year is an important moment to reflect on how far we have come in the battle against HIV. Across the state we have set ourselves the target of reducing new HIV transmissions to zero by 2020.
As part of this year’s World AIDS Day, both the NSW Minister of Health Jillian Skinner and Professor David Cooper, Director of The Kirby Institute had important news: Jillian Skinner MP launched the new NSW HIV Strategy 2016-2020 while Professor Cooper announced a new PrEP study, titled ‘EPIC NSW’.
EPIC NSW (Expanded PrEP Implementation in Communities) will be investigating the use of PrEP among 3,700 people at high risk of HIV transmission for up to two years. Watch below as Professor David Cooper announces the EPIC trial.
